With all the holidays {and birthdays... and anniversaries...} approaching, I thought I will share with you how I like to dress-up my glasses.
This is so simple to do - I did the above in a matter of minutes! Colors and the type of charms depend on the occasion ... Christmas might have little bell charms, add a pacifier charm for baby-showers and so the list goes on.
Some drinks looks spectacular by themselves, others again, might be a drink out of this world, but looks uninviting - add a charm and it changes the look.
And those little umbrellas ... uhm, that can only go so far {fun by the pool maybe..?}.
Have a look at the glasses undressed;
Yeah, a glass is a glass, is a glass........
Looks better, right?
Here is the absolute basics you need to make Glass Charms {but remember - the list is endless}
- Various beads in sizes and color - match it to your specific drink or the occasion
- Beading Wire
***For this specific project I like to use plastic beads as glass etc will make the glass in your hand a bit heavy after a few minutes ;-) ***
-All you need to do is, cut a piece of beading wire in the size you will need {slightly longer to accommodate the twisting and turning at the ends}
-Start with a bead which you can thread through the wire and back again, then twist the wire to make knot - cut off any sharp pieces.
-After this the fun starts - play around with colors and shapes.
-End with the same bead as the first one, do the double wire and twist again.
-Wrap around the stems of your glasses !
You can also just make a small ring which sort of lies around the stem, on the top of the foot of the glass.
END-PIECES are available from the beading stores should you wish to rather use that instead of the twist and turn as I do.
Here is a peak into one of my beading supply boxes:
A last look at the undressed vs dressed !!
Do you put jewelry on your glasses ?
I am working on a bigger one with "branches" for a flower vase !

ReplyDeleteThose are really pretty and unique. Love the sparkle they add to the whole stem!
ReplyDeleteI don't have goblets, but when the whole family is together (it's adding up as my 4 children are marrying off!) there are a lot of us. Rather than use paper cups or run out of glasses, I made our own glass charms (identifiers) and it helped a lot. We put glasses in the dishwasher when we were running it, but I wasn't constantly searching for a glass or trying to squeeze a glass into the dishwasher.
ReplyDeleteI'm visiting from Inspire me Monday

I've seen these things at stores, but I think yours look way nicer! And it makes sense to just make your own rather than buy them. Great idea! Thanks for sharing at Sweet Saturday, sorry I didn't thank you sooner ;)
